A Healthy, Dairy Brand That I Trust

One thing that you must know about me is, choosing the

dairy products

my family and I use is very important to me.

I try my best to use

alternative milk

options much as possible. Check out my post on coconut milk, and why it is my favorite.

However, Mr. Musical Chief and my tater tots LOVE their cheese!! And milk, and butter, yogurt….. Yeah they get it from their daddy ;).

organic brand

that I could trust.

I will tell ya, I’ve tried quite a few companies the past few months. This was not an easy task.

Why is it so important when choosing dairy products ?

Well, Over the last 30 years the dairy industry had drastically changed.

Dairy milk

The average cow is now producing 3 times more milk and half the number of cows compared to the 1960’s (USDA statistics).

How is this possible?

Well, there are a lot of new products or “chemicals” that are now being used to make this happen. Cows are being injected with hormones, steroids, and GMO feed. Which means less money for the farmer, yet more milk which equals more profit for the farmer.

All at the cost of the consumers health.
All of these chemicals end up inside our bodies.

Makes me wonder if these chemicals are influencing the rapid increase in our children’s physical development? Things that make you go hmmmmm……

This just the reason alone should place a flag on why it is so vitally important to check the dairy products you are using. Not to mention the 100 other reasons.

The first company that I recently reviewed, I was quite disappointed in. They stated that only (60). Yes only 60 not 60%, but six zero…of their many thousands of farms came back as GMO free. Now this company at one time could state that they did not use any GMO products in their products. However,  they can no longer state this. So sad.. looks like the big biz got the best of this one.

Another company that I reviewed stated they were an “ organic” brand.. However, they add DHA.

If you are not aware, DHA is not what it is cracked up to be. It is posted to be great for essential vitamins, omega 3 fats, and helps with brain support…

yet, this is all a marketing scam to think you are getting a “better” product.

So What you are really getting when you by an product with added DHA?
This “DHA” is:

  • Highly processed
  • Grown in a lab

GMO algae or otherwise known as Schizochytrium.

This algae is kept in large vats that are infused with none other than Corn syrup… YUCK!

But its organic, right??

Well, even organic products are allowed to use added GMO ingredients.

Another reason why it is so important to read your labels.

Stay away from DHA or fish oil in dairy products.

There was a few brands that did come back with a positive light.

Organic Valley was one of these brands.

I do like that they offer real organic dairy products.

As i stated earier my family doesn’t do to much cow milk. We tend to opt in for Goat milk, and or Coconut milk.

However, for me there are some mornings that I just have to have my coffee with some good old Half&Half.

MilkOrganic Valley’s Half&  Half is something that I have and would buy again.

They also have a full line of cheeses, and yogurts.

Most of you know that yogurt is a great way to get in your probiotics.

They also have a line of butter, and for me newly experimental product called Ghee.

If you have not heard of Ghee, basically Ghee is butter with all of the water content removed.

I am still working on a new recipe using Ghee.

As soon as I come up with a fab one I will be sure to let you all know.

So, let me leave you with a few words of advise.

The next time you are in need of a good, healthy dairy product, make sure you remember these simple tips

  • Try and limit your dairy intake, and try to opt in for more natural alternative milk products.

But when dairy is a must

  • Choose a certified Organic line
  • Avoid DHA or any added ingredients.

Let me know if any of you have tried Ghee, or any of these dariy products, Let me know your thoughts.

Stay Healthy Friends,
Rebecca
